Who we support
Our safeguarding policy is for adults at risk
An “Adult at Risk” is someone aged 18 or over, who is or may be eligible for community care services and whose well being and independence would be at risk if they did not receive appropriate health and social care support.
People most at risk have many difficulties such as:
- old age and frailty
- illness
- disability
- dementia
- learning disability
- mental illness
- substance misuse – problems with drugs and alcohol
- people with behaviour problems – such as Tourette’s syndrome, Autism and Aspergers
People most at risk are unable to:
- Take care of themselves
- Complain to anyone
- Protect themselves
- Speak up for themselves
Where are these people?
Anywhere - own home, hospital, residential or nursing homes, education settings, sheltered housing, and supported living schemes.
